Experiment with weapon types on different enemiesġ0) Greydwarves and Boars are scared of fire - such as from a campfire or a torch. If you see a yellow damage number when you hit an enemy it means they are weak to it and take more damage, white means neutral and grey means strong, where they take less damage. Enemies are strong, neutral or weak to certain damage types. There are lots of different weapon types that deal a specific damage type e.g. Foods with a red fork icon are good for increasing health, and foods with a yellow fork icon are good for increasing staminaĩ) Practice combat techniques such as blocking and parrying with a round shield, and rolling to avoid enemy attacks. Using your axe, position yourself so your swings hit multiple trees at once and you will cut them down quickerĨ) You can have 3 different food ‘buffs’ up at once. These structures can also contain loot like arrows, and a bee nest, which is very useful if you destroy itħ) When cutting multiple trees down, pay special attention to trees grouped closely together. Alternatively, deconstruct them with a Hammer and Workbench to get their resources. Repairing is freeĦ) If you come across any abandoned houses/villages, you can repair and live in them. The workbench also allows you to repair your gear (you’ll see a hammer icon on the right when you use the Workbench). This Workbench will allow you to build and destroy wooden structures within its radius (you’ll see a circle in an area around it). Open your build menu holding the Hammer to place a Workbench on the ground. Hovering over it on the map will tell you the biome name in the top rightĥ) You’ll need to craft a Hammer to start building. Black Forests have different coloured grass, different trees and atmosphere. Ideally it should be near an ocean so you have quick access to sailing (for later). Use map markers to mark clusters of mushrooms and berries so you can come back and harvest them when they regrowĤ) Establish a first base fairly close to a Black Forest biome - not too close or you’ll draw unwanted attention. This can sometimes tell you if there’s an ocean or Black Forest biome nearbyģ) When exploring, pick up everything you find - wood, stone, flint, food - you’re going to need it. ![]() Open your map and you’ll see a small streak of map uncovered where the Valkyrie dropped you off in the beginning. You can repair your stuff by clicking the hammer button on the side of the window when u use a workbench/forge.ġ) When you spawn, listen to the raven Hugin (with a yellow ! above his head) - he gives useful advice throughout the gameĢ) Start by getting a lay of the land. This community is largely very supportive. If u feel like giving up and it’s too frustrating, check the wiki (huge wealth of info but spoilers), or js ask here and we can give spoiler free guidance and support. It’s better to be patient, reposition, and not greed for that final hit, cos u will die.Įvery single “frustrating” thing in this game can be minimized or even removed with knowledge and experience. Always save stamina, never let it reach 0. Learn stamina discipline early so you won’t get into this bad habit. No stamina = can't dodge/run away/attack/block/parry = dead. Spamming attack or sprinting until u have 0 stamina means u will die because you can’t do any actions anymore. ![]() Stamina is the cause of 99% of frustration and deaths for new players.Make sure to always eat decent food, and keep your food up to date as you progress. ![]()
